I find this bike performs well. 1st gear is pretty worthless and almost dangerous. I can ride on trails all day in second gear. Third and fourth are only good for fast stretches or the street. My bike has a 13 tooth front sprocket and a 50 tooth rear sprocket. My top speed is 51 on my gps while the speedo on the bike says 55. The speedo uses a sensor on the front wheel. The speedo can be set for 17, 19 and 20 inch wheels. Because of the slight innacuracy of the speedo that also means the odometer is slightly incorrect. I did a ride that was 14 miles on my gps and the bike said it was 16 miles. I have gone up a few good hill climbs and it has no problem in second gear, went right up them. As far as range goes I have been keeping a log of my rides and miles here are the latest entries, 14.5 miles 47% battery remaining, 16.7 miles 40% and 17.8 miles and 34%. These mileage numbers are using the bikes odometer.
